Halloween

Halloween is the best holiday besides Christmas. I love all the festive cheer, and how my family gets very into the whole process. My mom makes a goody bag for each kid, and she loves it. I answered the door a few times this year, and I can understand why. The kids love the candy and it really hypes their spirits up. I also love all the costumes. It’s so fun to dress up and be whoever you want to be for a whole day, and no one will judge you. This year, I dressed up as a nerd. On any other day of the year, my attire would have been ridiculous, but many people complemented me on costume.  I also love scary movies, and it seems to be that many television stations seem to play horror movies in October than any other month of the year. As you can tell from my opening statement, I love Christmas. The day after Halloween, is the day that the Christmas season starts in my household. This is nice for me, since I don’t get sad that Halloween is already over and I focus more on the upcoming holiday season.

Personally, I find that Lady Gaga is an inspiration in many more ways than one. Not only does she have good music, she is not afraid to wear what she wants and she’s not afraid to express herself. She seems like such a fun and energetic person. I love how she can look insane, but at the same time I wish I could pull of her look. I’m sure that she is changing the fashion industry as we know it. Lady Gaga has to among the most influential people in America, and yet most people don’t acknowledge her on a daily basis whatsoever. If someone mentions Lady Gaga in your math class or at work, it is not really out of the ordinary. She has become almost a regular part of our lives. For me, it’s hard to imagine that she is a real, living breathing person. She almost seems like a television character or something. She grew up in New York City, and went to a Catholic High School and now everyone in America knows her name. Do you think that Lady Gaga is very influential?

Water

How many times a day do you hear an adult figure tell you to drink more water? I would say about 3 to 4 for me at least. It’s funny, because on the radio or on the news, people talk about how in Africa so many kids are deprived of clean water and how we should be thankful for the supply of clean water that we have. The African children would love to have my endless supply of water, and yet I hardly drink any of it.

I do have to take into effect that it is significantly hotter in Africa right now, and I probably do drink a little more water in the summer. My point is that I don’t drink enough water even though it is so accessible. I know that I am supposed to drink it, but I never really do. Why is this? It’s probably similar to the reason why many kids drink underage. It’s somewhat the opposite of the situation, but similar concept. Kids tend to do what they’re not supposed to, and not do what they’re supposed to in most cases. I wish that kids didn’t have this behavior towards life, and I think no matter how hard adults or professionals try to show kids in America that they are so fortunate, it doesn’t really help. Many kids in America grow up in a bubble where they hear about horrible things happening around the world, but they really don’t conceive what it’s really like. Maybe if teens could really understand these things then they would have a different outlook on life earlier on. Once those teens get to college, they really start to get a feel for the outside world. If teens could understand this feeling earlier on, then maybe they could grow up a little faster. This could change the world. Do you agree on teens?

Milan Fashion Week '09 Bottega Veneta

Fashion really fascinates me. It's so interesting how by changing a simple necklace or shirt, a whole new look can form. Sometimes I like to look up fashions for the current season when I have free time. It's insane how talented designers are. They have to predict what people will want to buy months in advance and they still seem to find a way to exceed with flying colors. I wish that I could live on the upper east side of New York City and buy whatever clothes I would like and not even have to glance at the price. Unfortunately, I am not Blair Waldorf and this fantasy will have to stay a fantasy. Many people would say that this dream is very materialistic, but I think that fashion is an art that just happens to be very expensive. Do you agree?
